-One of two men who attempted to hi-jack an Indianapolis automobile laden with sugar alcohol, WAS killed in a running gun battle with rum runners near Bainbridge tonight. The body tossed from the automobile by a companion, was identifed as that of William Kempe, 28, of Indianapolis. Authorities immediately started search of the surrounding county for the rum runners, seen to climb from their automobile after it overturned during the fight. The Identincation card in the overturned car bore the name of Morris Daris, 2208 Park avenue, Indianapolis, and the license number was 67-802. Motorists near the scene of tbe shooting sald the automobile carrying the hijackers passed the rum laden car and opened Are.
The windshield of the automobile WAS riddled with bullets. A large quaptity of ammunition found in the overturned automobile indicated the rum runners may have been expectlog the attack.
