💰 The aim of the Big Bike Revival is to make cycling accessible for everyone. 🚲 It provides funding to community and voluntary organisations to deliver free events that encourage people to start cycling, cycle more often or to take up cycling again if they have lost their confidence.🚴♀️ If your organisation can run sessions to encourage more people to cycle, you can apply for a grant of up to £3,500. 🚴♂️ Your activities should be for people returning to cycling, complete beginners or people cycling non-regularly and should include fixing bikes, teaching cycle and maintenance skills, and taking people on led bike rides on local routes. It’s been tragically clear for too long that large vehicles pose a fundamental risk to people walking, wheeling and cycling. It’s the role of national and local Government to lead on reducing these risks. As well as changing the road environment, we have to drastically improve how large vehicles are designed and operated. Cycling Scotland, Sustrans Scotland and Cycling UK in Scotland jointly re-commit to supporting urgent and lasting action from Government.

Thanks Jim Bowles for tagging me in this post, I agree 100% Urgent action is needed to end the deaths, life changing injuries and collisions caused by the large vehicle design fault, The restricted field of view that 83% of the trucks on our roads have, they don't afford the drivers the Uninterrupted 160 degrees field of view that they are legally required to have. There is a simple retrofittable solution that I've developed and launching soonFor more information on Viz-Ovalz®E-Mail -info@viz-ovalz.scotor contactMobile++44 (0) 7708091511Office 01259 726417#visionzero #roadsafety #fleetsafety #blindspots #cyclists, #investmentopportunities #innovation #launching #fleetmanagers#collisionavoidance#RHA, #CLOCS, #FTA, #BRAKE#insuranceindustry #insurancesolutions

My wish for Luxembourg's Journalists at RTLToday, RTL Lëtzebuerg, Luxemburger Wort, Virgule.lu, Luxembourg Times, Editions d'Lëtzebuerger Land and ______: Kindly ask Council-leaders, Mayors, the Chambre des Députés + Prime Minister Luc Frieden's government & stakeholders when...in 2024...they will adopt the NGO BYCS's common-sense AND looooong overdue International Children's Cycling manifesto https://lnkd.in/gEQnAYpp The BYCS wisely states in its four points:(1) Make cities for children: Children make up 1/3 of the global urban population, and are among the most vulnerable. When cities are safer for children, they are safer for all.(2) Make cities with children: Children have unique perspectives in our cities. They can see both barriers and solutions to healthy and happy urban lives that adults can't.(3) Make cycling for children: When barriers are lifted, cycling provides diverse benefits for children, including independence, health, happiness, and community integration. and (4) Make cycling with children: Empowering children to become their own cycling champions builds a natural love of cycling, and ensures their urban movement needs are met.- - - -Further context: Consider Denmark...that CONSISTENTLY rates Number 1...outclassing Luxembourg by too many places...on Highest Quality of Living:‣ Social Progress Imperative's Index https://lnkd.in/gQtKxH-t and Denmark outclasses Luxembourg across many of the OECD - OCDE's Key Performance Indicators for Children's Education + Civic Engagement + Community:‣ Luxembourg https//:https://lnkd.in/gW6WewHx‣ Denmark https://lnkd.in/gqQXp7n3Meanwhile:‣ As Luxembourg Times Journalist Andréa Oldereide reports: Twice as many obese teenagers in 4 years...The number of obese teenagers in Luxembourg has MORE THAN doubled since 2018, with 12% of secondary students showing weight levels considered obese in 2021 and 2022 https://lnkd.in/eGfFsVMr- - -

According to TFL, nearly 25% of Londoners now live within 400m of a high-quality cycling route with an ambition to make this 70% of Londoners by 2041? 🚲 This is a good step forward in making cycling more accessible and safer for everyone in the city. With more connected and high-quality cycling routes, we’re not just making it easier to get around, we’re also promoting healthier lifestyles, reducing traffic congestion, and cutting down on emissions. Let's keep the momentum going and continue building a city where cycling is a key part of everyday life.Who’s ready to hit the bike lanes? 💨#Cycling #Sustainabletransport #Urbanmobility #TFL #MoveBetter

Cycling Industries Europe is delighted to announce that it has joined European Commission’s ITS Advisory Group. This Advisory Group will be working on the implementation of the ITS Directive and CIE’s involvement in this initiative puts it and the cycling industry in a prime position to play a role in DG Move’s work programme for ITS over the next four years. This activity will compliment CIE’s engagement in the NAPCORE initiative in which work is being carried out to develop data standards for cycling, as well as CIE’s engagement in the MegaBITS_EU project, a European funded project (via Interreg North Sea Programme) developed to deploy ITS technologies in the field, via five flagship regions and cities. The importance of cycling data and the subsequent integration of cycling within the broader ITS ecosystem is a crucial area for the improvement of cycling safety, convenience and comfort and CIE looks forward to collaborating with the stakeholders of the ITS Advisory Group to achieve this.#InterregNorthSea #BITS #MegaBITS #CyclingITS #Cycling
